Wonder is there a difference between
1/ compressing the original Dicom file with DCMTK's jpeg program
and
2/ (using DCMTK's library) extract the image, and the header/meta data of the Dicom file, compress the image (using jpeg) and then combine the header/meta data and the result compressed image (using DCMTK library)?
Common sense suggest the resulting file should be the same. By that I mean data content should not be different. Hence either methods produce the same file size with identical content. Correct?
Thanks in advance.
