How to identify that given dicom file is multiframe or single frame ?
Is there any standard practice to follow for identification?

Check the data element NumberOfFrames (0028,0008). If it's present and has a value greater than 1, then it's a multi-frame image. Otherwise it's a single frame image.

Of course, there are also DICOM IODs that do not contain image data at all.
