DCMPRINT wishes

#1 Post by geroldgruber »

Hi,

after having the first images printed
(thanks for the great support to the offis team),
here come a few wishes to dcmprint:
- to support multiinstance installations, the management port of tcpsrv should
become a configuration option, too. And tcpsrv should never automigrate
to another management port (at least make this an option, please).
Background: if I have multiple instances running on a síngle box, how should I
determine the right port for tcpshut?
You could write the port in some kind of /var/run/*.pid - file, but then I would also
have to fiddle out, which one is the right one.
So please, take the port that is requested, and if it is not available, so fail and
let the admin do his job ;-)
(maybe you want to implement a (configurable) timeout to wait for the port. )
- could there be an option for selecting the logfiles (stdout and stderr)?
OK, I redirected them and that seems to work (wait for the first logrotate tonight ;-) ),
but an option would be fine.
- a little bit timestamping for the logs

So that's all for the first run (snmp-support follows next week ;-) )

best regards

Gerold

The suggestions make sense indeed. I have copied them to our "to do list" for the next release.
