Compression mystery

#1 Post by markw »

Hello,

I've been using compression for a few weeks now, I've run into a problem with compressing a dataset that has a secondary set of image characteristic tags - I'm not sure what the term is for this. But if you do a DICOM dump on the images, you'll see they have two sets of cols, rows, bits allocated, etc tags per file, sometimes with different values!

When I try to run my compression function on these images, it fails with an error like: "can't change representation to EXS_JPEGProcess14SV1TransferSyntax first order prediction".

These images are channel 24bit color images. Compression works fine when these second sets of tags are not present. Additionally, compression works fine for monochrome images in the same dataset (even with the second set of tags!).

Any ideas why this is happening? I can't figure where to get more descriptive information as to the fail point, I just get that one error string.

Thanks

Are you talking about the Icon Image Sequence? Did you try to use "dcmcjpeg" with these images?
