dcmcjpeg problem(3.5.4)

#1 Post by passion »

hi, I found one problem when I use dcmcjpeg compressing 1 file. I don't know dcmcjpeg bug or dcm file error. I debug dcmcjpeg, get depth wrong:should be 16,but get 8! So,I want post this file to OFFIS. I email to dicom/at/offis/dot/de ,I hope you can get.

We have received you mail, thank you. Today and tomorrow are national holidays in Germany, but you should see a response in a couple of days.

I cannot see any problem with the image you sent us. The original uncompressed image is a CR with 12 bits/pixel, and the lossy compressed version (with the command line parameters as shown in your posting) is JPEG-compressed with progressive encoding (note that this transfer syntax is retired in DICOM and not supported by most viewers/toolkits), also with 12 bits/pixel, and is also correctly rendered by the display components in DCMTK such as dcmj2pnm.

so strange?

#5 Post by passion »

It's very strange! I try just now, abnormal yet.

dcmcjpeg2 2.dcm 2cjeb90.dcm +eb +q 90 -v -d
reading input file 2.dcm
Convert DICOM file to compressed transfer syntax
Output transfer syntax JPEG Baseline can be written
creating output file 2cjeb90.dcm
conversion successful

dcmcjpeg2 2.dcm 2cjee90.dcm +ee +q 90 -v -d
reading input file 2.dcm
Convert DICOM file to compressed transfer syntax
Output transfer syntax JPEG Extended, Process 2+4 can be written
creating output file 2cjee90.dcm
conversion successful

dcmcjpeg2 2.dcm 2cjes90.dcm +es +q 90 -v -d
reading input file 2.dcm
Convert DICOM file to compressed transfer syntax
Output transfer syntax JPEG Spectral Selection, Non-hierarchical, Process 6+8 can be written
creating output file 2cjes90.dcm
conversion successful

dcmcjpeg2 2.dcm 2cjep90.dcm +ep +q 90 -v -d
reading input file 2.dcm
Convert DICOM file to compressed transfer syntax
Output transfer syntax JPEG Full Progression, Non-hierarchical, Process 10+12 can be written
creating output file 2cjep90.dcm
conversion successful

It looks successful. But output files are very small.
2cjeb90.dcm 19KB
2cjee90.dcm 19KB
2cjes90.dcm 11KB
2cjep90.dcm 27KB

After decompress,everything is white.
3.5.3 is normal.And 3.5.4 is abnormal.

Are you sure your dcmcjpeg 3.5.4? 3.5.3 is normal.
Thanks.
