Success! I modified the file manually and it works fine. I wonder what Osirix does.. Very strange.

My suggestion was to change the transfer syntax UID in the original file (see above). Ok, just so we do not misunderstand each other, since I think this is just what I did. Thanks for your fast response! I am also using Osirix for my tests and gives the same result. I followed your suggestion. I changed the transfer syntax in the meta info using Osirix and then ran the dcmdjpeg on the file again. Viewing the new file in Osirix it gives me the same result as before and ...
