It will be helpful, if someone can clarifying below queries - Queries related to StoreSCP - Receive/Import DICOM Images from External systems/PACS.
For example,
External system have 5 level of VL Whole slide pathology DICOM images as mentioned below.
• Thumb nail top level - WSI_S1_01
• Intermediate levels - WSI_S1_02, WSI_S1_03, WSI_S1_04
• High resolution base level - WSI_S1_05

Generally while receive/import DICOM files only base level (high resolution) DICOM file of VL Whole slide Pathology DICOM images will be transmitted from external systems to StoreSCP? Or All levels will be transmitted to StoreSCP?
1. If ALL levels will be transmitted to StoreSCP,
On what basis, we can identify received DICOM file is base level image? Is there any DICOM tag that will mention about base level image captured by scanner/instrument?
2. If only base level DICOM file is transmitted,
Other levels (Intermediate level, Thumb nail level, etc.) will be created through software?

I cannot see how your question is related to the DCMTK, but... the Purpose of Reference Code Sequence (0040,A170) within the Referenced Image Sequence that might be part of the Shared Functional Groups Sequence should contain a code from Context Group 8120. Also a localizer image would be helpful (if available).

Down-scaled versions of the full-resolution, baseline image (i.e., thumbnail or intermediate) can also be recognized based on the 4th value of Image Type (0008,0008).
