query for an image transfer syntax

#1 Post by cht666cht »

Hello, I do use findscu.exe to obtain the SOP Instance UID of an image and then movescu.exe to get the file. The problem is that in the server can be stored uncompressed and compressed images, and I have to use the "preferred network transfer syntax" parameters in movescu.exe to indicate the type of file I want to obtain.
Is there any way to obtain the transfer syntax of an image with findscu.exe so I can use it lately with movescu.exe?

thanks

The only solution I've found is to execute movescu.exe using different transfer sintaxes until it doesn't return error, but I think this isn't the right way... any idea?

thanks

The DICOM standard does not allow you to "ask" the server which transfer syntaxes are available. As the recipient of a C-MOVE sub-association (i.e. the network association in which the images are transferred from the image archive to the client), you can just accept or refuse presentation contexts offered by the server and then see what happens. This is how DICOM was designed.
