Advice on Dicom optimization.

#1 Post by local_mocal »

Hi,
I was wondering if anyone can give me advice on optomizing dicoms for minimum memory allocation on the system.

I notice that storescp dicoms receiving uncompress MONOCHROME2 19 frame dicom from our system only uses about 10-15MBs in memory when loaded to a dicom viewer. While sending the same dicom (from the cart) to a different pacs that system stores it compress jpeg using YBR and when we load it to the same viewer it uses 40-60MBs in memory.

I've tried using dcmdjpeg on that file and then using this command: "dcmcjpeg +pl +cm mydicom.dcm newdicom.dcm"

And managed to get it down to 25-30MBs of memory when loaded.

Anyone have any recommendations on using dcmcjpeg to make these dicoms from the other pacs more memory friendly like storescp? Any help or advice is greatly appreciated. Thank you!
