I have the below,
Modality System (Ultrasound) whose AE Title is --> "US_AE".
Image Server (PACS) whose AE Title is --> "IMAGE_AE". (I registered the calling AE Title in PACS as "US_AE")
When i do C-Echo from Ultrasound system, i give calling AE Title as "US_AE123" (That is, i give a wrong calling AE Title).
Result: SUCCESS
But when i do C-Store by giving wrong calling AE Title as "US_AE123",
Result: FAILED, Reason: Calling AE Title Not Recognized
Why do C-Echo succeeds and C-Store fails when calling AE Title is wrong?
C-Echo behavior when calling AE Title is not recognized

Re: C-Echo behavior when calling AE Title is not recognized
Hi,
note that this is a DCMTK forum, not a DICOM forum. So please do not post any questions which do not refer to DCMTK.
To answer your question: Every server is free to use or not use Calling and Called AE Title for whatever they like. The can accept or reject it whether it's right or wrong, and handle that differently for each supported service.
So you cannot expect any standard behaviour when playing around with AE Titles. Every product/system behaves differently.
You might look into the Conformance Statements of your systems in order to find out, how your systems should behave.
Best,
Michael

Sorry Michael, i would restrain from asking DICOM question next time.
I see the same behavior when i use DCMTK's echoscu.exe tool.
