private tag OB or OW

hi,
I want to put a string into dicom as a private tag which is OB or OW VR because the size is too large. I also make the consideration of other string VR such as UT or LT, but make the dicision to set the data to binary data at last. But I don't know which VR (OB or OW) is suitable. and the main different between them.
I need your suggestion. Thank you.

please only ask DCMTK-related questions here. For DICOM questions you could refer to the DICOM newsgroup also mirrored here at google, or the DICOM standard (here part 5, especially this chapter on DICOM data types).
