DCMTK 3.6.7 'apt' or 'apt-get' Install?

#1 Post by shalas1 »

Hello,

I am wondering if there are plans to make DCMTK version 3.6.7 available for install through the Linux terminal using 'apt' or 'apt-get'. Right now, there as a valid DCMTK package that can be installed via:
sudo apt-get install dcmtk

However, this installs DCMTK versions 3.6.6.

Just want to check-in about if there are plans to provide a package for version 3.6.7 in the future.

Best,
Steve

Hi Steve,

we are not providing the DCMTK packages for linux distributions . Ubuntu, Debian, Mandrake and so on create their own packages. You should find the package maintainer of DCMTK for your linux distribution and drop him a mail. Usually you find him listed on the package info page for DCMTK for your distribution. Here is the DCMTK package page for Debian stable, for example. Some Linux distros a bit behind since they do not have fast release cycles (e.g. Debian stable).

You can also try pre-built binaries from the OFFIS website here: https://www.dcmtk.org/en/dcmtk/dcmtk-tools/.

Note that Linux binaries are (almost) never 100% portable, so they may not work on your system but maybe just try it. The other option that always should work is to build from source yourself.

BR,
Michael
