dcmodify error: tag not found, when it is there!!

#1 Post by blogan35 »

I keep getting an error using dcmodify whenever I try and modify/delete the (0002,0002) and (0002,0003) tags, which are MediaStorageSOPClassUID and MediaStorageSOPUniqueID. I get the error "Tag not found". However, when I do a dcmdump, it is clear that those tags are there. Are these non-modifiable fields? Anyone else have this problem?

Ah, I just discovered that it may be a part of the meta-header, that's why I can't modify it? Is there any way to modify it from a perl script?

Yes that's right. Dcmodify can't modify tags in the metaheader and the new dcmodify version in the upcoming release won't allow to specify such a command any more.

Not with the existing dcmodify code. The new version in the upcoming release will allow such operations: Through modification of the tags (0008,00016) and (0008,00018) the corresponding tags (0002,0002) und (0002,0003) in the metaheader are automatically changed to the new values.

Regards,
Michael
