Creating DICOM segmentation objects

#1 Post by afe »

Hi,

I would like to save segmentation masks (labels) stored as an image raster into a DICOM segmentation object using DCMTK. Let's assume I do have the original DICOM study that has been segmented/labeled.

Can someone point me to where I should start? Is there an example that is most similar to what I am trying to achieve? Is this feasible at all using DCMTK functionality?

I would appreciate any advice. Thanks!

There is an example in the documentation of the dcmdata module that shows how to create a DICOM dataset and save it to a file. Of course, you have to consult the DICOM standard (specifically part 3) for a list of all attributes that are required for this IOD.
