Feeding worklist items to wlmscpfs

#1 Post by bettarini »

The question is about feeeding worklist items to wlmscpfs by using dump2dcm to convert the sample files to DICOM. All the samples show one single SPS per file.

First question: are those .wl files compliant with the DICOM standard ?

Second question: would wlmscpfs be able to use a file where the SPS sequence (0040,0100) contains more than one item, each item essentially containing the details about a different SPS ? The alternative would be creating a bunch of files each one with a single item in the sequence, and all referencing the same "Requested Procedure ID" (0040,1001).

Storing C-FIND response datasets as files is not defined by the DICOM standard, i.e. there is no Modality Worklist Storage SOP Class. This is just the way DCMTK's Modality Worklist SCP has been designed. Since the tool uses a Private SOP Class for this purpose and stores the datasets as DICOM files, the .wl files are DICOM-compliant. However, the files are probably not very interoperable.

Regarding your second question: The Scheduled Procedure Step Sequence of the C-FIND response dataset shall contain a single item only; the same applies to the .wl files.

Details on the implementation and setup can be found in the documentation of the tool.
