Doubt about DM2PNM

#1 Post by cazaf »

I used the DM2PNM with option +obt to read the file “brain_001.dcm”. It can be found in the compress file “dicom_images.zip”. This file is available in http://www.mathworks.com/matlabcentral/ ... tType=File.

I also used the program MRicro to visualize this file (File->Open Image Using Header Information Values (Raw)). I noticed that the image using MRicro is more detailed than the one generated by DCM2PNM. I thought this is due to the compression of the range of the luminosity level in the image generated using DM2PNM.
Is there an option that gives me the results I found in MRicro(my issue seems related whit the FAQ issue #24)?

Regards,
Carlos

The reason is quite simple: You did not specify an appropriate VOI window. Try "dcm2pnm" e.g. with option "+Wm" to set an automatically computed min-max window.

Btw, the VOI window which is stored in the DICOM image is invalid: Window Center/Width = 0/0.
