Hi, guys;
I couldn't find a topic dealing with this. It's a stupid mistake, but probably a common one.
I opened a DICOM file using Wordpad. Then clicked the 'save' button. Obviously, I can no longer open that file as DICOM anymore, and no viewer or program has been capable of opening it as dicom (tried the DCMTK dcmwrite/dcmodify, the PyDICOM plug-in and the DICOM module from Matlab).
Is there any way to restore the file to a somewhat original state, so I can retrieve the image information?
I'm only interested in the image, not the header, so solutions that may delete or substitute the dicom header are also welcome.
Restore DICOM after Wordpad save ...

depends on pixels format, if it was raw rgb or monochrome you can try to use one of hex editors (biew or hiew) and find where is pixels area starts. now you have to write simple app to read pixels from "broken" dicom file and write to standard graphic format (pnm/ppm ?).
it depends on the image price imho you have ~20% chance.
