make storescp convert 16 bit image to 8 bit

Sorry, I am little new to dicom, ....
When I use storescp.exe to receive images from modality or S/W, I want the image to be converted and stored in 8 bit format even if the received image is at 16. I found the +opb switch in dcm2pnm, is there a similar one for storescp. is there any other simpler way to achieve this?

No, storescp is a DICOM storage SCP and nothing else. Of course, you can start a script on each received DICOM object in order to do the conversion.
