getscu 3.6.1 libiconv2.dylib
I am runing getscu (3.6.1) and it is giving me an error message saying
dylid: Library not loaded: /opt/local/lib/libiconv.2.dylib
I looked and indeed it do not even have a directory called /opt
but I do have the libiconv.2.dylib in /usr/lib
What should I do?
Should I be making links from /usr/lib to /opt/local/lib?
P.S. I'm on MAC OS X 10.8.4

Did you compile the binary? If not where did you download it?
Btw, google for "libiconv2.dylib" and you'll get some promising hits ...

I got a copy from D.C.
I understand your question.. Didn't you make dcmtk on your system? No. It was made on another system and then the executable was copied to the target platform.
but it would appear that the executable is searching for a dynamic link library in the same path as where the dylib was on the system where the executable was made...
Seems dangerous to me... but is there by any chance an environment variable where dylibs are sought? like a lib path?

Re: getscu 3.6.1 libiconv2.dylib
Unix systems usually check the environment variable LD_LIBRARY_PATH. I don't know what Apple's equivalent of this concept is ...
Disabling support for libiconv and recompiling would also be a solution, since getscu does not need libiconv (but the underlying DCMTK libs do - if not disabled).

Can you see from the source code if DYLD_LIBRARY_PATH might be useful?

I'm sorry but I don't have the source code of Mac OS X This is not a DCMTK issue ... I'll ask someone who has access to a Mac.
