Large dicom files

Hello,

I am very interested in understanding why this img2dcm does not do a proper photometric conversion as it flips the image background (invert it).

img2dcm -k 0028,0004=MONOCHROME1 --input-format BMP --write-file -nsc --dataset-from Images/header.dcm Images/frame_0_8bit.bmp recovered.dcm

this is the command I used.

Don't set the photometric interpretation manually.

In this case the pixel values were different, and the photometric tag value was also different
Is there any way to maintain them?
Are these changes controllable or they the viewer to blame?
