truly lossless codec and YBR_FULL_422 photometric

#1 Post by rgarbacz »

Hi All,

I have received an image with LittleEndianImplicit transfer syntax, and YBR_FULL_422 photometric interpretation. I tried to compress such an image using DCMTK lossless codec, but I get an error: True lossless encoder: photometric interpretation not supported: YBR_FULL_422. The true lossless codec does not allow for compression with such a photometric.

My question is whether the problem is caused by the lossless codec, which requires a different photometric for compression, so there would be a data loss when converting, or is it a bug?
The image has already been received with such a photometric interpretation, so according to my knowledge compressing it with JPEG lossless coded should not cause any data loss when using the existing data.

I would appreciate any suggestions of how to handle such images.

Thanks in advance.
