dcmqrscp with MySQL

Hi,
I'm writing a Dicom server with some basic futures, and of course I use dcmqrscp, and I wondered if it is possible to integrate MySQL database with this service?
I'm developing the server on UNIX machine and the client stations are on windows, so I need to have a database server on UNIX to reply the windows requests.

Please tell me if it is possible or not, and if it is possible, it will be kind to give some hints.
If not, a simple guidance on the alternative solution will be appreciated.

Yes, it is possible to integrate dcmqrscp with MySQL, i.e. to replace the index database with MySQL tables. However, it is not trivial, and will require several thousand lines of code to be added/modified. We are actually planning to add such an extension to DCMTK in one of the next releases, but I cannot say exactly when this is going to happen.

We are using the MySql database to store the information present in the dicom images, and now am trying to integrate the dcmqrscp with MySql, as i don't want to store the information in two databases ( index.dat and MySql). Are their any APIs that i can use to query and fetch the dicom images with MySql backend.
If anyone has implemented the same, then kindly let me know how should i start with the implementation.
